Letter from Linda Ruppe, 2016 Seacoast Board of Realtors President

Dear Members of the Seacoast Board of Realtors and Affiliates:

2016 Is the Year of Change and it’s hard to believe that January is nearly coming to an end.

The market has been steadily active since the New Year began. We still are faced with a low inventory but anticipate we shall see many more homes joining the market as we move towards spring.

In 2015 the Board met to review and seek NAR’s approval of the new Strategic Plan for the Seacoast Board of Realtors. These changes and goals were necessary to meet the new guidelines set forth by the National Association of Realtors, NHAR and local Boards. We have moved past the old way of doing business to establish a fresh and new path that looks to the future of preserving our membership and charter.

These changes were necessary to be current and maintain the integrity of our goals and commitments within our Strategic Plan. We took a closer look at all the books, manuals and committees making the revisions where needed.

Some of the changes include the following: We have eliminated the need for monthly Committee meetings and instead meet quarterly freeing up more time for those who volunteer. Committees are now breaking into working groups where each working group will work on specific issues or events reporting back to the Committee chairs within the time constraints requested. Working groups are encouraged to invite and include Realtors and Affiliate members of the Seacoast Board of Realtors who are not necessarily on the Committees. This new process we hope will encourage outside participation from our members who may not have the time to commit long term or may want to just participate on a one time basis.

Ann Cummings and Lauren Kane chaired the working group that included Valerie Shelton and Penny Wood. They did an extensive review of our policy manual having gone through word by word updating it and bringing it current with our standards and practices while looking towards our future.

We will no longer be holding monthly membership meetings. Instead we are hosting Networking events during specific months throughout the year. Most of these will be hosted and sponsored by our Affiliate members. During these events we will update you with any pertinent and relevant information but the main focus is to have fun and encourage an opportunity to network amongst each other. Bring lots of your business cards you never know where your next client will come from. Networking amongst each other not only lets you get to know one another but it also helps to bring better understanding and camaraderie when you are working with each other vs. someone you don’t know and to build your referral system. This new format is to help everyone build a better business and working relationship while having a great time.

You are encouraged to view our Strategic Plan and Revised Policy Manual and learn more about the Seacoast Board of Realtors that you are a member of.

The website will be constantly evolving but one of our goals is to provide you with a year upfront of all or most of the events so as to give our members as much notice and allow you to plan ahead in order to participate when and where you can. You should check back often to view any updates and events or newsworthy items.

We encourage everyone to please volunteer where you can and get involved. Know that we are working hard to bring the Seacoast Board of Realtors towards a better and brighter future.

I am always available and look forward to hearing any of your comments and suggestions.
